THE INDEPENDENCE WOMAN

...A look into the word Independence and as it affects the Womenfolk as Nigeria CELEBRATES Her 57th INDEPENDENCE.

A quick look at the word Independence: Independence is defined as freedom from external control or support: the state of being independent which is synonymous with; Freedom, Deliverance, Objectivity or emancipation. For example, if a country has or gains independence, it has its own government and is not ruled by or influenced however by another country. What is the Independence Day of a country? A country's Independence Day is the day on which its people celebrate their independence. Now, celebrating my country’s independence on this day October 1st refreshes my mind and knowledge on some areas of my life I need to improve on, to live free and liberated from character interference and other ills that has the capacity to disrupt my sovereignty and independence.

I feel its great moment to celebrate another calendar year with the world most populous black nation and 6th largest oil-producing nation in the world even as Africa’s giant on her 57th year Independence from slavery and dogmatism. Now, the big question should be, how does this independence celebration influence my personal life and worth? Yes and I feel that should form a defining moment also in our individuality especially as women; as happy, competent and fulfilling women on divine purpose. Moreso, as we all are becoming women in various capacities, a better woman and a blessing to our world.

First, I strongly believe that women independence should be fundamental “Self-Discovery”. Every independent nation today started their agitation for independence on this first order and principle. Self-realization is the activation module to attain and achieve personal-deliverance, liberation and freedom. This connotes, who you are, what purpose you are designed and destined to accomplish on earth soil; your vision, mission and objectives in life. Women, take note, we must first be free from inside before we can experience freedom outward.

Secondly, I will stay long on this because many women out there I believe needs freedom from the menace of “Low Self-Esteem”. Please note, this does not suggest being disrespectful to yourself or others, but simply improving on your weakness to be a better woman, my redefinition though and I can assure you, it has helped my self-esteem as a growing woman. I would rather have you know what self-esteem is all about; it is the ability to view yourself as being able to cope with the simple challenges of life and the faith and conviction that you merit to be happy. If you don't think you're earnest of happiness, then you can as well allow the devil and his cohorts lie to you of not being worthy of living.

Women! Wake-up, brace-up, and be free from Discouragement, Fear, Depression, and Anxiety. Note here, living in past mistakes, feeling rejected, looking imprudent or inadequate, emotional attacks, hypersensitivity and mixed emotions can make you feel down and low. Beware of the above-listed life conditions if allowed can attack you as a woman and keep you under attack, thereby dehumanizing you and your worth. As women, we may not be able to fulfil our true potentials in life feeling poorly about ourselves and judge ourselves to be inferior to others – that will be living at risk, and we may not be able to take up responsibilities, take up the creative and productive initiative to set and pursue personal goals.
The following are possible causes for low self-esteem in many women today, subject to my research and findings;
  1. Deprived or low educational performance
  2. Teenage pregnancy
  3. Inconclusive schooling or dropping out of school
  4. Earlier sexual experience.
  5. Unlawful behaviour or Criminal tendencies
  6. Drug abuse and Alcoholic abuse
  7. Unkindness
  8. Gluttony or Poor eating habits

All of this takes a toll on our lives and again note, low self-esteem is more than an unfriendly and unkind emotion. Happiness renews and restores self-esteem, but do not live happy at the expense others hurt, that is no happiness.

Self-esteem I repeat is simply how we feel about ourselves and how we judge our self-worth. This assessment has a reflective influence on the choices we make since it determines, to a great extent, what we consider ourselves capable and worthy of doing. Get Independence Now!

Thirdly, Fear is a feeling or a state of insecurity induced by perceived danger or threat. Most of the cases or experiences associated with fear come from an unknown source and in most cases is that of the unknown. Fear of the past and fear from the past. Most women especially permit their anxieties to grow into a chronic fear. And it is revealed that living under such constant threat or fear has serious health consequences. Physical health. Fear weakens our immune system and can cause cardiovascular damage, gastrointestinal problems such as ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome, and decreased fertility.

Friends, we must be informed here how fear affects individuals and societies at large? Fear is an unfriendly feeling triggered by the belief that someone or something is hazardous, likely to cause agony or a danger. Being fearful or being terrified of someone or something likely to be dangerous, painful, or hostile.

Fourthly, Weak and undermining habits, or habits that demean our prestige as women. It takes more than buying beauty to maintain beauty – Inyene Udoekong quotes. This is the reason why I suggested living on your means and living it on your purpose will save you from engaging in discontentment or dissatisfaction. There is actually nothing wrong in looking beautiful as women, it’s our thing, but then, not at the expense of “divine purpose”. We are role model to our world, we are created pacesetters of godliness, and we are defined and designed for goodness and beautiful values and not for frivolity and wastes.

Now, it has become a growing demographical survey that most women world-over are scarce in virtue and values, precious time and resources mortgaged for temporal gratification and this is exposing many women to the world and habitual practice of selling or giving anything for the pleasure of having beauty. Oh! How beauty is misconstrued and misunderstood. Beauty without brain exposes your beauty to abuses of all kind – Inyene Udoekong again, I quote. Demographics of the target market for beauty is shifting to defining women as weak and demeaning lifestyles. Honestly, for me, this is a worrisome statistic to the commodity and stock of intelligence and brevity and inventions required and expected of the womenfolk.

Break free from the bondage of abusing beauty and the misapplication of body beauty as against your brain beauty. Our beauty as women is in our brain and not in our body. Your body beauty has no value without definitions of your brain beauty quote me, Inyene Udoekong. Thanks again, get freedom and again I say, get independence from weakling habits and demeaning traits as a woman, you don’t need it.

Fifthly, Self-development in our order at becoming a woman is the second order to becoming a fulfilled woman. To become a woman of competence and a woman of honour and prestige. No matter the cost of the development, happily engage it, because your development has a long way to impacting on your personality or personal worth. You cannot afford to claim independence without engaging development as a woman of excellence. Whatever level of training or education, don’t mortgage your development. Vocational skills, empowerment training, seminars, workshops etc., get your life daily updated with the right and positive material. Life transforming and mind-challenging books, go for CD’s that influences your career and profession positively.

This is what independence should mean to us women “Self-Development”. Now, I can say it loud here, happy independence Nigeria, but not until I have amplified it louder here, happy independence women world-over. The word independence should be associated with the womenfolk, but positively and productively too.

Lastly, Rise up for Knowledge, Stop ignorance. Independence begins with the rise to the right knowledge in life and knowing what works and not just what we want. Because what we want might possibly not be what works. Enough is enough, living in ignorance is far more expensive and many women can’t afford it any longer. Tradition and cultures that hinders your fulfilment and happiness in your divine purpose should no longer be tolerated. Ignorance is staying on what demeans you as a woman and leaving what helps your spirit to access growth and development. I will end this by saying here again; the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge.

Let your conduct and communication transmit independence in every place and at all time. How can we speak as women of knowledge when we do not fear our Creator in all our endeavours?  Knowledge begins with referencing God and engraving in our hearts, His fear and ways.
I will surely return in the cause of the month bringing you more love and charge. As women growing into Honour and Competence. #Happy New Month. #Happy Independence Nigeria. #Happy Independence womenfolk. #BecomingAWoman
