WHAT DRIVES YOUR LIFE

The word ‘drive’ simply means to; ‘guide’, ‘control’, ‘direct’, which could be related to a car, nail, golf ball, career, condition, or life in general, as the driver remains in control at the moment of initiation. Humans most commonly the females get caught up with real issues that make them identify what really inspires or motivates our pursuits, ambitions, and life in general. These and many more driving forces are the determining factor to our success and much more our struggles and failures in life. What really drives your life as a girl child, woman and as a human is what we shall be focusing on. We need to be acquainted with opportunistic factors that could drive our lives and drive it formidably. And for that purpose, we need to eliminate such factors so as not to take hold of us and our success in future.

  

It is quite unfortunate that most individuals are in a state of dilemma, being threatened by the challenges of life without acknowledging the need to confide in family, friends, or colleagues but are struggling with indecision to either keep up with life or terminate their life abruptly. I shall outline several negative factors that drive peoples’ lives which includes; pain, emotion, problem, pressure, deadline, fear of the unknown, depression, guilt, resentment, anger, past unwholesome memory, materialism,  and values. 

Stated below are a few of the most common negative factors that could drive people’s life consciously or unconsciously.

Does guilt drive your life? 

Do you find yourself spending your entire life running from regrets and probably hiding from fear of shame and disappointments? Are you manipulated or cajoled by your awful and sad memories? Do you unconsciously allow your past memories to control your present, and allow the present sabotage the success of the future? Well, I think we would appreciate the implication if we take a close look at the biblical story of Cain who got disconnected from God as a result of the grave sin he committed by killing his brother Abel. He was accursed from the earth and made a vagabond, swamping through life without a purpose.

Some individuals who really can’t fight their past end up being a product of their horrible past. The essence of this article is to encourage you to know that in spite of your past, the future guarantees a better hope for modification, and turning a new leave as we should no longer be pressured unnecessarily by such an unwholesome past.

We should broaden our understanding to know that a better assurance of God’s grace is sufficient for us to live a healthy and purposeful life and it’s not truncated by our errors of the past. 

God’s grace and mercy turned several individuals in the past to revered heroes and heroines, how much more in this present dispensation if only you would submit your emotions and intellects under God’s authority to take preeminence. To mention but a few; his mercy and grace transformed murderers and executioners such as Moses and Paul into worthy leaders and a coward named Gideon into a courageous hero, such attributes of his majesty turned a classless Esther into a classy and honoured queen and I bet you, he’s not finished until he gets to you, to transform you into a better and honourable lady.

Just as recorded in the holy book, God specializes in giving his children a fresh start, a second chance, a new file, and he sure would appreciate your cooperation as he is sincerely asking you to let go of your guilt as a result of present or past experiences and let him take charge. They may come as flashes of events, terrible promptings or negatively influencing gatherings, broken marriages, abortions, unwholesome activities, lack of responsibilities etc. you just have to let God take the wheel and you will just be fine. Come on ladies, let God into your heart.

Does resentment and anger drive you?

It is no doubt that several factors could trigger our reaction either for good or bad. Do you flare up at the slightest provocation? Do you act impulsively out of your minds without considering its aftermath? I could keep asking; do you hold unto hurts, pains, unforgiveness, and never give room for reconciliation or resolution. This factor will only drive your life to a dead end. It is your sole responsibility to retrace your step and grab for yourself a healthy life with a better purpose other than blowing up or absorbing your feelings to endanger your health. 

Practice a healthy living, eat healthily, and smile always. Always hold unto memories and activities that create an imaginary serene environment and as you practice that religiously, it becomes a habit you never want to leave. Living a life of resentment is living a selfish life. You have got work to do, live for GOD, for His dreams in your heart, live for others and the good of the society at large.

Does fear drive you?

It is no myth that some persons are driven by fear either of known factors or unknown factors in life. Their pursuit or ambitions in life is driven by the fear of not being counted as a loser or a failure due to moral and social standards. I have known of only  “THE FEAR OF GOD” which produces wisdom in our hearts and life. The fear of God is the assurance of a bright future, it is the energy to live in boldness and audacity.

Is your experience as a result of traumatic history, unrealistic expectations, growing up in a high controlling home, genetic predisposition, well I can tell that irrespective of the cause, fear-driven people are liable to miss great opportunities as it inhibits their ability to venture out, explore privileges, they are easily laid back, hard to get them fired up, they are always skeptical of the result of their efforts, so they rather not even venture to avoid disappointments.

Fear is self-imposed bondage that deters your success in life and Gods purpose for your life. We as humans are created in Gods image to be bold and of sound mind in love, and we are able to prosper and flourish if fear is cast out of our lives. Ladies! It pays to allow the unlimited life of God in to undo the grip of fear that has held you from moving on and moving forward in life. It’s your Moment!

Does materialism drive you?

Most individuals are culprits of this one. We could hardly live without being identified with a trendy look or lifestyle. Being materialistic without a due purpose could be termed as vanity. Materialism is expressed as it cuts across all areas, social media addiction, lifestyle, communications, and character. Do you build your character around possessions which could easily be phased out, dusted and forgotten, or would you rather build a character around your abilities and impacts in others and the society at large?

Are you driven by the desire to be famous in life, talk more, acquire more, and this has become your dire goal in life driving your life to your major achievements. It is such an error to think happiness could be gotten from so much possession. Being materialistic cannot make up a fulfilled life. We are programmed for a fulfilling life and if what we have is far, we tend to explore. Materialism is proof that we are insatiable. We always want more and more; information, possessions, devices, recognition etc.

It is only wisdom, to know that your value is never in your valuables but in your ability to fulfil your innate responsibilities in life.

It is rather unfortunate, the extent we go negatively in life just to acquire things we don’t need. Our children, teens, adult indulge in dishonest and illegitimate activities because they are driven by riches, fame and possessions. Let’s sensitize ourselves to live a healthy and contented life.

Lastly, some people are driven by the unnecessary need for approval, as they are tossed here and there for indecision regarding their career, expectations of parents, spouses, older siblings, relatives, associations, teachers, peers, and environment. Well unknown to some, it’s a challenge and you should know you have the will power to discern what suits your purpose and what advice you need to let go of. Be firm and unwavering in your decision and when you do, others can’t go against it.

Be watchful, don’t let your life slide without your knowledge, you were born to win. That should reflect in your thoughts until it becomes real.
