HELP! CAN’T STOP EATING!
...Eating is not a disorder but eating
unhealthily is...we’ve all got these unique ways our body feels when we need to munch on something...
Each month we consider significant concerns about
health, life and business involving women and all-round well being. And this
time we are taking a conscious ride to examine our eating habit… Without educating the body, it
really knows when to poke you to get it refueled. A common analogy of how
important food is to the body is the work of gas in a car which allows it to run
and do so effectively. Sometimes we get engrossed with activities that we
ignore signs expressed by our body to demand for food and other times we overly
pay attention to our body to lend more than it requires.
The need to adequately fuel the car cannot be overstated
as it is the case of food and the body, to stay alive and alert. Some people
like I do, feel a burning sensation to always eat each time the mouth is
open. Despite the insignificance of the calories they get, there is a notch of fulfilment
when they satisfy their intermittent hunger. Really interesting that my dad
always says lack of food doesn't kill but will leave an impression that you declined
its call. Whenever you overcome the incessant eating habit when your body pokes
you, in that you gain authority by growing your head bigger and bigger. Lol…Well
my dad says your head just grows bigger, but you don’t die.
It is difficult to counsel people who eat as a
hobby because if you get emotional about their response you may end up their
advocate. A friend once told me “if I don’t eat when I feel the sensations;
stomach rumbling, appetites growing, I feel shaky and would almost always lose
control of myself”. Well forgive my naïve response to that when I heard it. “You
no well! ”, in my local parlance(pigin english) .
Until I realized we’ve all got these unique ways
our body feels when we need to munch on something. Like my friend some feel very
uneasy, distracted, carefree.
My mum once told a story of my brother who would
give a hilarious display when he is famished; he would sing his best song as a
child and would do anything to expedite the preparations of the meal, just for
him to have his share.
In summary, food is very necessary and for you not
to pile calories I recommend that these two points be taken to heart by
experience.
EAT
HEALTHY
This includes the nutrient in its right proportion
as learnt far back in our elementary studies. while we learn the art of conditioning
our body to eat when we dictate fit, eating wholesomely is the best way to maximize
our diet. It is medically advised that you surround your space with healthy
munchies like solid or liquid fruits or veggies which could be filling but
healthy than snacking on frugal quickies that are potentially hazardous to the
body. Now recalling on how to repress hunger attack when the body tries to
intimidate. Some time ago, I returned from the Gym feeling so hungry and exhausted
after expelling some dangerous calories, had this sensational aroma of freshly
baked bread invade my nostrils, with no defense against the aroma. The hunger pangs
doubled, and I felt like I needed a brief amnesia of the tedious gym experience
just to have the bread delivered and devoured. Now while all of these were running
through my head, I had garden eggs just beside and I took advantage of its
proximity and filled myself with it instead of distracting myself with the unhealthy
bread I perceived. Well this is it! When you always have veggies and fruits in
your fridges, in your bag packs for work or anywhere you go to. It comes handy
when nature calls. now you recognize it is best to snack on ginger instead of
sweets, garlic instead of biscuits, or apple instead of some habitual
chocolate. So, eat as much but healthy and reasonable calorie intakes than even
a bite of unhealthy packs.
HAVE A
RELAY RESPONSE TO YOUR EATING HABIT
Research says it takes approximately four to eight
hours to get your food digested before eating again. This finding varies with individuals
however after you eat, it takes those considerable hours for food to pass
through your stomach and small intestine. Food then enters your large intestines
for further digestion, absorption of water and finally elimination of
undigested food. So, with this basic knowledge, you might want to slow down
when eating to imagine this process. It is also discovered that it takes 20
mins for a food entering the mouth to shut hunger pangs. Which is to also say
when you eat like you are conversing it gives the body ample time to send
signal to the brain to notify that you are gauged and there won’t be any need
for overload. So, the wait for relay response is expedient for effective
communication.
In conclusion, eating is not a disorder but eating
unhealthily is. If you apply these healthy tips, you would enjoy exercising
your mouth as you gulp wholesome grains, veggies and fruits and remain fit.
